Last Night Keith Took Me to See "ENRON"

Last night Keith took me to the Noel Coward Theatre to see the play - Enron. It is all about the company that changed the way business in American worked and brought on a collapse that many think caused the current depression we are today.

Enron was a company that traded gas and electricity - they were headquartered in Texas. When Bush was elected - he passed laws favoring no regulations on financial corporations like Enron. The leaders of Enron - "Kenny Boy Lay" as Bush called him - and Jeff Skilling - ended up being convicted of fraud. The company went from zero to $60 billion and back to zero - and owned or produced virtually nothing.

London's theatre district is so cool. It is very walkable - Keith and I walked both ways from home last night. The theatre was maybe 90% full and is this show is going to close in August. During the curtain call - the actors who very good - but it was very hard applauding them because it felt like you were applauding the Enron crooks.

Enron made a bundle buying electricity - inflating the price - and selling it during California's energy crisis. Enron helped caused the blackouts when they held the state hostage.

It was just a few hours after Drew - Robin - and Jack left town. It was really nice having Keith there - and was nice that he had gotten the tickets for us in advance. Keith works for the Federal Energy Regulation Commission in Washington.
