Harry's Web Page Has Record Number of Hits Thursday - Over 2000

Elian Gonzalez and the

Everharts share a shining moment.

Bloggers feel important when large numbers of people visit their web pages. On Thursday - over 2000 people clicked on my web page. An average day it usually scores 100 hits - but on this day 20 times as many as usual had checked out my web page.

We assumed that it was because people were checking out the report on Lulu being sworn in as president of AASL. My eyes bugged open and this appeared like a really big deal. All day long we watched our site meter as the "hits" kept coming. Boy - were we impressed with ourselves.

But now for the rest of the story. Sitemeter.com is a service that allows one to check where all the page hits are coming from. They have maps - bar graphs - charts - and even a list of "entry" pages that allows one to see what particular article is drawing the most attention.

After checking all the sites below - you can see why the joke was on me. Back in April - I had written a small story about Elian Gonzalez - you remember him - the kid that we sent back to Cuba to be with his father 10 years ago. Someone had obviously sited my story and picture of him on Thursday. Everyone was clicking on my web site to read that story and see the picture.

Sometimes - we get caught up in all the hype. It is fun when you get duped by your own vanity.

This is a partial list of entry hits to Harry's page.

Daily hits average 100 - but Thursday broke 2000.

We get hits from all over the USA.
Even a few from around the world.
