"Happy" Harry Nathan Everhart - April 2nd 1916 - April 4th 1982
Today is my dad's birthday. He would be 105 years old. He died at age 66 in 1982 from Black Lung - Miner's Asthma. He graduated from Coaldale High School in 1934. He went right to work at the Number 8 Mine in Coaldale until it closed in 1959. He got a gold watch for 25 years of work.
He spent his childhood in Coaldale PA and most of his adult life in Tamaqua PA.
He married my Mom - Lillian Quick Everhart - in 1941. They had 3 kids - Gail - Judy - Harry. He met all of his grandkids - Billy - Suzie - Brian - Kenny - Sharon - Drew - Keith.
I took the above picture of him when he applied for Black Lung Benefits from the federal government. He was about 60 year old in the picture.
