2002 Roadtrek Class B Motorhome - Camper Van

2002 Dodge Roadtrek with 318 V8 engine. It has 4 speed automatic overdrive.

We bought this Roadtrek last week. The original owner used to go back and forth to his vacation home. It only has 28000 miles on it. I received the original window sticker and all the service records. They did not use it for camping. The shower was never used.

Lulu and I have owned several camper vans - but never a Roadtrek - the Mercedes of campers.

We plan to use the camper for football game trips - Mardi Gras - trips up north to Tamaqua - Richmond - Washington - Delaware. We will camp at Disneyworld.

With a device called a Slingbox - I am able to watch my home Directv system on my iPhone. We have ordered a connector to play my iPhone through the camper TV. If it works - we will have TV service wherever we have ATT phone service. No antenna needed. Wish us luck. Later - the iphone to TV connector works great - we get great Tv service going down the road or parked anywhere we get ATT.

Roadtreks are made in Canada.

We plan to get the windows tinted very dark so you can camp without needing curtains.

Here is what the camper looks like after I spent a couple days cleaning it up.

It is 19 feet long and 8 feet 4 inches high. It fits in our metal garage with 10 foot doors.

The wheels are steel and they are chrome plated. The tires only have 6000 miles on them.

There is a large locking storage bin in the side. Here you can see the outside beach shower and the 30 foot long shore power cord. There is also a light in the cabinet. The handle is used to crank open the awning.

This outdoor shower has hot and cold running water. The brass fitting is a place to hook up a city water hose.

It has a locking 35 gallon gasoline tank and a 35 pound propane tank. Supposed the camper gets 15 to 20 MPG. I am skeptical. Nancy's Dodge convertible only get 16 to 22 MPG - and it is a 4 cylinder.

Under the rear lounge is a large storage area. This is where I put our giant AGM Gel coach battery. The battery is over 10 years old from our old camper - works fine - is completely sealed - and can be stored at any angle. While the van is going - it charges from the engine. While the van is plugged into shore power - it charges from the AC to Dc converter. This battery runs appliances and accessories - lights - TV - DVD - furnace - refrigerator. It can charge computers and phones. Note 1 of the 4 large sound speakers.

The jack has never been used and is stored in the rear carpeted bin under the rear bed.

The rear bin is not big enough for a bike - but it could hold golf clubs. This bin is accessed through the rear van door.

The cabinets are solid oak wood. It has a smoke detector - a CO detector - and a gas detector.

In the rear you can see the air conditioner - the tire storage kit - and the opening rear window and door. The bumpers are chrome plated.

The Class IV hitch can pull 10000 pounds and can take a hitch weight of 1000 pounds. We have a hitch carrier that can carry a motor scooter. In Florida you can use a regular car license for the camper. The camper can carry a 2000 pound payload. that would be 10 - 200 pound people.

The 4 front captains chairs turn into 2 beds.

There is a fire extinguisher and several 110 volt outlets.

The front seats turn into bunks. No one has to climb up into a high bunk.

Looking back - it is like two bedrooms. Two walls open up to make a private bathroom in the middle.

The Thetford flushing toilet drains into a 30 gallon black water tank.

I bought new shower heads for the inside shower and outside shower. They operate on one button.

The shower drains into the floor that is shaped to run into a drain - under the carpet.

Two oaks walls make a private bathroom between the two bedrooms. There is a closet next to the toilet.

The kitchen includes - gas stove - kitchen sink - refrigerator -  range vent hook - lights - drawers.

The refrigerator runs on 12 volt power from the battery - 110 volt power from the shore plug - or propane from the 35 pound tank. It has a small freezer too.

The kitchen has a window and curtain. The gas range has automatic igniters.

This is the TV box. The TV has a built in DVD player. There is also an old VCR. There is a TV antenna booster - 12 volt outlets - 110 volt outlets. This Toshiba 19 inched HDTV only draws 38 watts of power. That is less than a light bulb. It can be run using a small inverter.

This 8000 BTU Fedders air conditioner can run by mains power or by from the 2800 watt generator  underneath.

The back lounge turns into a dinette. The cushions drop down to make a double bed - 72 x 52 inches. There are seat belts for the back passengers.

The Dodge Chassis has all the modern options - AM/FM/CD - power steering - power disk brakes - power windows - power door locks. One problem - you can lock the keys in. If you leave the keys in the ignition after you step away - you might hear the lock go on - yikes.

4 captains chairs in the front with belts face forward.

The four captains chairs can also face a front table. The table stores under one of the chairs.

The microwave works on mains power or generator power. The generator cannot run the AC and microwave at once - too much draw.

What a nice poker table at a football tailgate party.

In this configuration of two tables - 8 people can party at once - in air conditioned comfort.

The front AC works off the Dodge engine.

The controls operate the generator - the water heater - the batteries - and the gauges tell if your tanks are full.

This vent sucks out stale air and shower steam.

Underneath the seats are storage drawers.

The camper fits easily into our metal barn. It would also fit onto the back porch of the new house. :-)

The garage is 26 feet long - the van is under 20 feet long.

On the roof you see the exhaust fan and the sewer air vent. The vent sucks out sewer gases as you drive. There are also 3 sunroof windows.

The outside awning is brand new and 12 feet by 10 feet.

Note the camper fits easily in the 10 foot door.

The rear dinette turns into a double bed. We plan to get the windows tinted darker. Since this picture - we have had the the windows tinted limo black.

The original window sticker. Pepco RV is now Camping World - 10 miles west of Tallahassee on Route 90 or I-10. They sold it to the original owner and then sold it to me when he bought a new RV. The original owner gave me all the service records and advice.
