Temperatures are in the 70s - the sky is bright blue - and there is a fantastic breeze. Lulu and I rode a double decker bus shopping - then we walked home. Nothing like riding a double decker bus in the front seat above the driver.
Regent Street - one of the busiest shopping streets in town - was open only to foot traffic. It provided a mall atmosphere - and you could sit on the parkway right in the middle. The purple banner is honoring the 60th anniversary of the crowning of Queen Elizabeth in 1953. I vaguely remember it on TV.
This Apple Store on Regent Street sells more computers than any Apple Store in the world. Note the glass steps going upstairs inside - they have a theatre upstairs that offers free classes with a live instructor.
This graffiti pretty well spells out what the working class think of Maggie Thacher.
Our favorite store in London is The John Lewis Store on Oxford Street. Lulu bought a robe. We also got some very nice soft pretzels and strawberries to kill for. It reminds you a bit of the Hess's Store in Allentown - only much bigger - 7 floors - with an open glass elevator going up the middle. I never saw so many sales people - all dressed in black.
It is only 6:30 PM here now - still brightly sunny outside. London is much farther north than Florida or Pennsylvania so the sun stays up later in the night in the summer. The sun will set at 9:17 PM today here. It will set in Tallahassee at 8:42 PM - and Tamaqua 8:37 PM.
The latitude in Tallahassee is 31 degrees north - in Tamaqua 41 degrees north - in London 51 degrees north.
Lulu's classes start tomorrow - they go for 3 weeks - all day. She has 16 graduate students.
