45 feet long - 8 feet wide |
Lulu and I just spent our 52nd wedding anniversary at Dollywood in Tennessee. We flew up Friday - stayed 3 nights - and got home at 1 am this morning. I have so many pictures and so many stories backing up. I have writer's block. So to start out - I will return to my roots. Campers!
Dolly Parton is a world famous performer worth over $450 million. She travels all over but does not like to fly. So 30 years ago - she had this motor home build just for travel. It is 45 feet long - has all the comforts of home - and gives her a cocoon to work in as she travels.
She had the same driver and his wife for 15 years. The coach could go non-stop from Tennessee to Las Angeles - 2000 miles at 7 miles per gallon. It is equipped with a 17000 watt generator - enough to power a normal home.
She made the trip to California - 200 times in it. They never had an accident or traffic ticket.
They still use it - but when not in use - it is an attraction at Dollywood. You wait in line - and 2 families at once can spend 5 minutes inside. There is a full time guard sitting inside watching you. You can take pictures but nothing else. The AC is on and it is very quiet. It cost $750,000 when built 30 years ago.
