Tully Gym Was Full to See Seminole Volleyball Team Clobber Carolina Tar Heels - 3 games to 0

The Seminoles improved their season record to 13 - 2 as they shut out the North Carolina Tar Heels -  3 games to 0. This moves them into second place in the ACC with a 5 - 1 record.

Tully gym was full and rocking with the Seminole Sounds Band.

All three games finished within 4 points scoring.

This is the same Seminole team that finished the 2011 season in the NCAA National Final Four. They are also the ACC three-win champions.

Sunday - they play North Carolina State - the team that is in first place with a 5 - 0 record. That game will also be at home in Tully Gym.

Conversion Van Converted

This is our 18 year old Dodge conversion van - converted.

The rear doors open wide to show the 20 gallon water tank - the shower wand - the platform that forms a storage space - and the rear seat fully reclined.

The 20 gallon water tank is filled with hot water from our garage hot water hose bib. This provides 20 minutes of continuous hot showers at 1 gallon per minute. If you use the shower head button - showers can be extended longer. If hot water is needed longer than a day - this tank could be insulated.

The old Dodge conversion van is converted and ready for the road.

In review - I bought this 1994 Dodge Van from the original owner in June. He bought it in 1994 for $35,000. It was his only car for 18 years - his family was moving to Oregon - he was leaving the van behind. It has 109,000 miles on it.

Seminole Volleyball Beat Duke - 3 Games to 1 - Sunday at 1 PM

You can see the final results on the scoreboard - the smiles on their faces tell it all.

Here - Joel is doing the Seminole Cheer.

FSU has a wonderful volley team. They have 12 wins and 2 losses on the season and 4 and 1 in the ACC.

It is always fun beating Duke. This time FSU won the first game - follow by Duke's lone win - then the Noles won 2 more.

FSU Volleyball Beat Wake Forest 3 Game to 1

The last point against Wake Forest.

The 14th nationally ranked Lady Noles let the Deacons hang around one extra game as they easily beat the squad form Winston-Salem 3 games to 1.

The Noles won the first two - then lost one match right after the break. They stormed back to win in the final game. The match went form 7 PM to 8:45 PM. There was a good crowd on hand including the FSU band and the cheerleaders.

Next FSU hosts Duke at 1 PM on Sunday at the Tully Gym. Duke is 9-5 - losing their last 3 games to Michigan - North Carolina and North Carolina State.

Lulu's Beach Buggy on Maiden Voyage to Gulf of Mexico

Aligator Point is 42 miles from our house. In front of the van is the Gulf of Mexico.

Behind the van is Ocklockonee Bay. The peninsula is very narrow here.

Toilet fits nicely and takes up very little room. The tinted windows and shades give you privacy. The toilet has a fresh water flush tank and a black tank in the bottom.

You can see the tinted windows - they only allow 20% of the light to enter.

Lulu says she would live in a trailer if it were on the beach. She has a nice lunch packed for us.

It took about 50 minutes for the Dodge van to make the 42 mile trek to Gator Point. The drive was very uneventful with mild traffic and weather.

Still Pimping My Ride - Dodge Van

1994 Dodge Van with 109,000 miles on it. One owner - V- 6 engine.

Today - I installed a trim strip around the top of the van. This black strip covers all the screws that holds the turtle top to the van. The old strip was rotted and faded. The new one gives the van a much more finished look.

Tomorrow - we are having the windows tinted so that you can't see in. This is mainly because the van will be used as a cabana at the beach.

We have a toilet for the van. Next I am going to rig an electric shower in the van that will be used outside the van.

Friday - we are taking it to the beach. It will be our first long trip.

Got A Shock - Getting Shocks on Van

I am at Sears. Getting 4 new shock absorbers on the van.

$184 total out the door. They are a lot cheaper than struts that new cars have.

It will take an hour.

2 hours later - I went back to pick up the van - they said there is a promotion on the installation - they knocked off labor charge - new price $108 - total out the door.

I got 4 Monro-matic (the yellow ones) shock absorbers installed at Sears for $108 total.

I am still in shock.

Some Clemson Fans Were Way Too Into This

Seminoles See Dawn of New Glory Days

From the NY Times

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — What E. J. Manuel would call the biggest victory of his career had been secured when he galloped free down the sideline, with a clear path to the end zone. All night, he had listened to the former Florida State quarterback Charlie Ward’s advice — take what the defense gives you — and with this run, Manuel joined Ward as the only Seminole to throw for 300 yards and rush for 100 in a game.

James Wilder Jr - Future NFL Star

James Wilder Jr - You may remember how good his father was.

His father used to play for the Tampa Bay Bucs. Next week FSU plays in the Bucanneer's Stadium in Tampa against USF.

Some people are calling it the Dyslexia Bowl - FSU versus USF

FSU Seminole Remain Undefeated - Beating Clemson 49-37

FSU Heisman Candidate EJ Manuel - He reminds me of Charlie Ward

Florida State - during the Dynasty times - won 10 games every season from 1988 to 2001. In some cases a two loss season was considered a down year. Bobby Bowden was a saint - and even in the end - he never had a losing season - but there were just too many 4 - 5 - 6 loss seasons. A few seasons it took a win in a ho-hum bowl to go 7-6 - preventing the losing season that would end Bobby's career.

Three years ago - they couldn't wait for a losing season - they fired Bobby. His assistant Jimbo Fisher took over and produced a couple 4 loss seasons. All the spoiled FSU wins have been waiting for the messiah to lead them to the promised land. Through very weak scheduling the Noles started the season - playing 4 games at home. In the first 3 games they won by over 50 points.

John Orlando at ESPN Gameday at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee

We drove the scooter down this morning to attend the ESPN Gameday Show. See John Orlando here.

ESPN Gameday is at Tallahassee for the Clemson versus Florida State game tonight at 8 PM. Our friends - John and Bonnie Orlando drove up from Ormond Beach for the game. Last night we landed 4 seats on the 40 yard line for the game - supposedly a sellout.

Doak Campbell Stadium under a beautiful blue sky. Look carefully and you can see the spear flaming in Osceola's hand. He is riding Renegade.

John Orlando drove his 385 horsepower Hyundai Genesis up from Daytona yesterday to be at the game with us. It took him less than 4 hours.

This is the Gameday stage on Langford Green.

We Got Tickets to the Clemson at Florida State Game

We were having supper at the Steel City Diner with our friends Bonnie and John. They had driven up from Daytona for the game.

I got a call out of the blue. I could not hear him so I handed the phone to Lulu. She said I should take this call outside.

A guy asked me if I needed tickets for the Clemson game. He had sold me tickets to a Duke basketball game once - great tickets. He said he had 4 on the 40 yard line.

He said - meet me at the Walmart where we met before at 8:30. John and I went there in our red Prius. At 8:30 exactly - a big white Cadillac with giant wheels on it pulled in. He was flying two FSU flags. Just like a drug deal - we got out - shook hands - exchanged greetings. He handed me the tickets - I checked them out - and I handed him cash.

The guy is a Golden Chief. They pay $25,000 for the right to buy 24 season tickets - they pick first.

At any rate - we have 4 nice tickets - to a big game - and we can sit together - the 4 of us - for the biggest home game of the year.

I'm Dreaming of a White President

“I’m Dreaming” Lyrics
George Washington was a white man
Adams and Jefferson too
Abe Lincoln was a white man, probably
And William McKinley the whitest of them all
Was shot down by an immigrant in Buffalo
And a star fell out of heaven
I’m dreaming of a white President
Just like the ones we’ve always had
A real live white man
Who knows the score
How to handle money or start a war
Wouldn’t even have to tell me what we were fighting for
He’d be the right man
If he were a
I’m dreaming of a white President
Someone whom we can understand
Someone who knows where we’re coming from
And that the law of the jungle is not the law of this land
In deepest darkest Africa nineteen three
A little boy says, “Daddy, I just discovered relativity.
A big eclipse is coming
And I’ll prove it. Wait and see!”
“You better eclipse yourself outta here, son
And find yourself a tree
There’s a lion in the front yard
And he knows he won’t catch me.”
How many little Albert Einsteins
Cut down in their prime?
How many little Ronald Reagans
Gobbled up before their time?
I don’t believe in evolution
But it does occur to me,
What if little William Howard Taft had to face a lion
Or God forbid, climb a tree?
Where would this country be?
I’m dreaming of a white President
Buh buh buh buh
‘Cause things have never been this bad
So he won’t run the hundred in ten seconds flat
So he won’t have a pretty jump shot
Or be an Olympic acrobat
So he won’t know much about global warming
Is that really where you’re at?
He won’t be the brightest, perhaps
But he’ll be the whitest
And I’ll vote for that
Whiter than this?
Yes
Whiter than this?
Yes
Whiter than this?
Yes
Whiter than this?
Oh yeah

1994 Dodge B250 Conversion Van

Here is the van after the paint job. It came out pretty good. It still needs a few trim pieces - but all and all - it looks great. Maaco painted it. It took longer than expected but they were busy with another van. I plan to paint the wheels silver. I know - conversion vans are so 90's.

This is the short van chassis. It has a raised top. It needs a black trim strip to go in the channel between the body and roof.

Lulu would like the windows tinted very dark so that we could remove the curtains.

The 4 captains chairs are in good shape for being 18 years old and having 109,000 miles on them.

It has a V-6 engine - and 3 speed automatic transmission. Not much else - a radio and television

The 4 captains chairs recline. The third row bench seat is missing.  With new paint - new windshield - tax - tag - title - we have $2200 into it.

The van was the only car of an 85 year old couple for 18 years. They took good care of it. They just moved to Oregon to be with their family. It took a while to straighten out the title - because of a computer mistake in the DMV in South Carolina. We now have a current Florida title for the van.

The dodge van cost $17,000 new

The conversion added another $19,000 to the deal - total cost $36,000. They drove it for 16 years - that means it cost them $2000 a year.
