Lulu's Beach Buggy on Maiden Voyage to Gulf of Mexico

Aligator Point is 42 miles from our house. In front of the van is the Gulf of Mexico.

Behind the van is Ocklockonee Bay. The peninsula is very narrow here.

Toilet fits nicely and takes up very little room. The tinted windows and shades give you privacy. The toilet has a fresh water flush tank and a black tank in the bottom.

You can see the tinted windows - they only allow 20% of the light to enter.

Lulu says she would live in a trailer if it were on the beach. She has a nice lunch packed for us.

It took about 50 minutes for the Dodge van to make the 42 mile trek to Gator Point. The drive was very uneventful with mild traffic and weather.

The van's air conditioning is fantastic. We had to turn the fan to its lowest setting. The tinted windows made for a comfortable ride. For being 18 years old - the van is very quiet. The roof and walls are insulated and that really helps for sound and heat.

The toilet works fine. You cannot see inside when using it. We do have blinds to make it 100% secure. The windows are tinted 20% to keep out UV rays out. 20% means they only let 20% of the light through.

It has a 35 gallon gas tank but the gauge barely moved. I am guessing we used 2 gallons. Another story later is a new iPhone app I got to record all auto expenses. You enter data. It gives you charts. Like mpg.

Gator Point is quiet. It is hot but a nice breeze helps. Water is 82 and Lulu is in.

Up and down the beach I see maybe 10 people.

We stop at the place where a wooden foot bridge crosses the dune. They have improved the parking there. We found a shade tree. There are maybe 4 cars here.

Clouds cover is 10% of the sky. There are very few people at the houses here. Very few cars.

The van has tons of room for chairs - blankets - bikes - coolers. There is plenty of room for changing - it is a wheeled cabana.

This is what Lulu came to Florida for.

We spent 3 hours on the beach - took a walk - went in the water - ate lunch - surfed the Internet. There is a great 4 bars phone signal here. The sun was hot and it seemed like 3 days.

The ride home was uneventful - with a stop at Walmarts in Crawfordville. Lulu drove the rest of the way.

The van performed flawlessly. It would have been nice to have that shower after 3 hours of the hot sun. I am working on that now.
