This was our plane after take off |
At about 2 PM - we took a cab to Beijing Capital Airport. Our flight was at 5 PM. We had a bit to eat and went to the gate. What a quiet airport it was. We were sitting there waiting for a crowd to board. All of a sudden it was flashing last call - but hardly anyone was nearby.
The Air China plane held 300 people - but only 40 were going to Tokyo today. We had our pick of seats. The flight was 3.5 hours - and Lulu almost slept thru supper. We landed around 9 PM. Customs was very fast. There was a professor waiting for us as we went thru customs.
The Tokyo Airport is an OCDers delight. Everything seems orderly and clean. We went right into the subway. Our destination was Yokohama - a suburb of Tokyo. Our Hotel Mets is right across the plaza from the train station.
This hotel will be our home for 5 days. Lulu will make two presentations at Tsurumi University - Wednesday and Thursday.
What a difference a country makes - China to Japan. Out T-Mobile iphones welcomed us before we hit the ground. The wifi in our hotel was pinned at 85 MBPS! It was so easy transferring high quality pictures from my iphone to my laptop. Our slingbox from home is very clear - watching live CNN from home now. Our sirius XM radio is good too.
The Hotel Mets is a boutique hotel. They gave us 8 coupons for buffet breakfasts. We have a great view of the station across the plaza.
We left 38 degrees in Beijing and arrived at 55 degrees in Tokyo. We flew directly over Korea to get here. It was a very smooth and quiet flight. They turned the lights out and people slept. the plane had a big business class bed section but it was virtually empty.
Were ROCKIN IN THE FREE WORLD!
