Berlin - After WWII Was Divided Into 4 Sectors

Berlin is the capitol of Germany today. After World War II - the Allies divided it into 4 sectors. From 1945 to 1990 - West Berlin was encircled by a wall constructed by the USSR.

Our apartment is in the old East Berlin - very close to the first E in East Berlin on this map. The wall is gone today except for one small section. They commemorate the old wall - by marking its place on the ground with a line of stones in the pavement. Also - in some places there are a row posts as high as the old wall.

Berlin is today the capital of Germany. The old Reichstag Building has been renovated - and today the government meets there to make laws. On the map - the Reichstag is very close to Checkpoint Charlie on the map. The old wall went right by the Reichstag.
