Seattle Space Needle today
Our ship arrived in town at 8 AM - our plane does not leave until 11 PM - so we have tons of time to kill. With the pretty blue skies - what a better place to spent it than on top of the Space Needle in Seattle. A senior citizen ticket to the top of the 600 foot Bethlehem steel structure is $22. The glass elevator take 40 seconds to get you to the top.
When the Needle was built in 1962 - it was the tallest structure west of the Mississippi - now it is only the 7th tallest structure in town. I remember it well - because in 1962 - it was the first picture stamp I purchased at the Tamaqua Post Office - 4 cents. I bought a whole sheet.
I remember the movie of Elvis at the World's Fair here with Ann Margaret.
Today the sky is so clear we can see Mount Rainer and Mount Hood. We can also see our ship very clearly. We are sitting in a little snack bar at the top - I found wifi - what the heck - I might as well post from up here.
In the distance - Mount Ranier
From up here - Seattle looks much bigger - see the stadiums.
Our ship is already filling with new passengers. In 2 hours it pulls out for Alaska.
Lulu and Mount Ranier.
Me on top of the Space Needle - didn't King Kong climb this once?
Our room was on the other side - one floor below the pool.
Best picture of Mount Ranier.
Lulu on the Space Needle.
Norwegian Pearl
This float plane flew by us on the needle.
