Leaving Our London Apartment For Our Florida Home

The bedrooms have all new furniture and fixtures - lots of lights. The building is older than the USA.

Today is going to be a long day for us - 5 hours longer in fact. We woke up in London about 9 AM - it rained hard during the night. Lulu heard it but I slept through it. Lulu made breakfast in the kitchen and then she ran off to shop for a bit of last minute things.

Lulu got the FSU apartment because of the price and location. Hotels in the area want 200 and 300 pounds a night. Multiply that by 1.57  for dollars. When she saw the apartment price for 67 pounds - she jumped on it. We had three rooms - a modern new kitchen - 3 beds - and it was on the first floor - no steps or elevators. Outside the front door are three old red cast iron phone booths.

We caught a black cab right outside our door - taking us and our bags to Paddington Station. At the platform we bought tickets on the Heahtrow Express. It is a fast quiet train that takes less than 15 minutes to get to the airport. My iPhone stopwatch had it take 13 minutes and 20 seconds. When you have bags - it is a nice luxury rather than taking the Tube - which takes an hour and change.

We have been informed that we may be bumped off our flight from Atlanta to Tallahassee. We will not know until we get there. That would be great if it happens. Our flight leaves London at 3:15. We are in the lounge - Lulu's gold status gets us a nice place to sit with free wifi - free food - and free drinks. I also get a chance to send these pictures featuring our London Apartment. We will have this apartment or similar this July when Lulu plans to teach a course for FSU in London.

Lulu riding the Heathrow Express. For 22 pounds - you cut the time to the airport from 90 minutes to 13 minutes.

You can see the bathroom thru the foyer.

The TV is where the old fireplace was.

The bathroom is tight but we love the shower.

In the kitchen is a breakfast nook that could serve as an extra bedroom - should guests arrive.

The kitchen has an old coal fireplace - long ago closed off as per law.

The glazed white cabinets are pretty and bright.

Note the fireplace in the kitchen. The apartment has a full set of dishes and cooking utensils.

Note the coal grate in the bottom. They used to use lignite and peat - very smoky coal.

This is a cute little stove and oven with a stainless hood. I am not a fan of the blue back splash - or any back splash for that matter.
