Today We Poured The Garage Floor and Sidewalks

Today started out foggy and cloudy. At least there was no rain. At 7:30 AM - they started pouring the garage floor. The garage is going to be 24 feet deep by 36 feet wide. It will have 3 garage doors for 3 cars. They put 3 rings of steel rebar in the foundation - along with steel expansion joints.

The front and back sidewalks were also poured at the same time.

This is the form for the floor. It is covered with a plastic vapor barrier. They started pouring at 7:30 AM.

The back sidewalk will go from the back porch to the service door on the south side of the garage.

The front sidewalk will go from the front door to the driveway.

The sidewalks are 4 feet wide. We placed several pipes and conduits under the sidewalks for water pipes and electrical wires.

They used a power float machine to smooth out the floor and float out the bubbles.

In the afternoon they removed the foundations and dressed the edges. At 5:00 PM - as the sun shown brightly - the last worker left. Note the raised edge to keep the wooden studs up from the floor. We will use 2 x 6 inch studs and ¾ plywood sheeting covered by hardiboard. The roof will have fiberglass architectural shingles - the same as the house.
