Cimarron - FSU's New Mascot

Let's hope the NCAA does not get mad at FSU again. You may re-call a few years back the NCAA tried to stop Florida State from using the nickname "Seminoles." They said it was disrespectful to American Indians - you know the Native Americans that we gave the misnomer "Indians" because we claimed they were from India.

All the other teams that had Indian names - changed them to something else - like the Redmen from St Johns became the Red Storm - whatever that means.

Then FSU President Wetherell petitioned the NCAA claiming the Seminole Tribe of Florida endorses the use. The NCAA backed down.

At every FSU home football game - Chief Osceola riding his horse Renegade enters the stadium carrying his flaming spear. ESPN had a contest last year and by a landslide Chief Osceola was named the top mascot in all of college sports. Take that Notre Dame Leprechaun - Florida Gator - Nittany Lion - Texas Christian Horned Toad - South Carolina Gamecock.

Just in case the NCAA banned the Seminoles - they paid someone to design a new mascot. Here it is - Cimarron the horse. There is a town in New Mexico called Cimarron. Also Cadillac took the badges off a Chevy Cavalier and called it a Cadillac Cimarron.

I would prefer we be called the FSU Spears over this Clown. Better yet how about the FSU Clowns since we have the only college circus in the country.
