IPADS - Selling Like Crazy

Steve Jobs introduced the iPad.
At the London Olympics - Apple gave out these little jewely quality iPad and iPhone pins.
When Apple made the first iPads - the critics went wild. They had very few specifics to complain about so they chose to mock the name as if it were a new feminine product. Apple created a completely new niche product - and in a couple short years - Americans can't do without it.

At first people slighted its touch screen keyboard - luddites insisted that it should look like a typewriter. Have you seen kids typing on it lately? They are really fast.
When I watch my grandkids navigate their iPads - I am amazed at this wonderful little educational tool.
Sales went through the roof.

From the NY Times -
Here's the breakdown by quarter, as disclosed by Apple:
— 3.3 million in fiscal third quarter 2010
— 4.2 million in fiscal fourth quarter 2010
— 7.3 million in fiscal first quarter 2011
— 4.7 million in fiscal second quarter 2011
— 9.3 million in fiscal third quarter 2011
— 11.1 million in fiscal fourth quarter 2011
— 15.4 million in fiscal first quarter 2012
— 11.8 million in fiscal second quarter 2012
— 17 million in fiscal third quarter 2012.
