Yesterday We Visited JP and Wanda at Walter George Reservoir (People in Alabama call it Lake Eufaula)

Yesterday we visited our good friends - JP and Wanda. About 7 years ago - they build a vacation home on a bluff overlooking Lake Walter George. It is about 120 miles north of town on a pleasant four-lane drive through the sparsely populated Southwestern Georgia - The lake forms the border between Alabama and Georgia.

On the way - we stopped for lunch in Bainbridge - the county seat of Decatur County. In the downtown square was a statue to honor the Confederate soldiers.

The cannon symbolizes the Confederacy - everything was going fine until the wheels came off.

Downtown Bainbridge was quiet and pretty - a typical country town with brick buildings and empty streets.

JP and Wanda's home - they built it 7 years ago - is big and beautiful.

This is JP and Lulu on the pier - Alabama in the background.

Lake Walter George occupies an impressive 85 miles of the Chattahoochee River, separating Alabama and Georgia with 48,000 acres of freshwater perfect for boating, fishing, skiing and swimming. Also, with 640 miles of shoreline, 13 Corps of Engineers day-use parks and four adjoining campgrounds, the lake is an ideal place for camping, outdoor and water-related activities. Each year, the power plant generates enough electricity to serve 56,000 homes. The lock, a focal point of commercial and pleasure craft traffic, with a lift of 88 feet, is the second highest east of the Mississippi. From Wikipedia.

JP has the coolest garage - 3 big garage doors - 10 feet ceilings - apartment upstairs.

Every car nut's dream - a hydraulic lift.

JP restores old British Sports cars. This is one of them we bought last week on Craigslist.

With all the stops - it took about 3 hours each way. We left home at 11 AM and were home by 9 PM. Old people do not like to drive in the dark. We drove on US Highway 27 most of the way.
