Pat Wilson - Obituary From Coal Cracker Patch. Mom's Patch Was About Two Miles From This Patch

St Nicholas west of Mahanoy City

Patricia M. "Pat" Wilson, 77, died Monday at Abington Hospice at Warminster.

She was the beloved wife of Robert "Bob" Wilson for 55 years, whom she met in first grade.

Born in Shenandoah Heights, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Helen Yancofski Nevadomsky.

Pat was a coal miner's daughter from the patch of St. Nicholas, near Mahanoy City, where she grew up with her beloved sister, Rose, and where her family ran a small grocery and goods store.

She regaled her family with stories about those days, especially about the parties that would be held at the store when the local boys were going off to serve.

When she met her husband in first grade, she announced to her mother that she was going to marry that boy with the red hair, blue eyes and glasses. She and that boy married in 1959 and moved to North Wales, a town she loved as much as the old patch.

For many years, she was the proprietor of a North Wales Hair Salon, where customers became longtime family friends. She enjoyed spending time with family and especially looked forward to the annual beach and lake vacations when the entire family would gather.

She was a devoted parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, North Wales, and was a longtime volunteer at the task of washing altar linens.

She will be remembered for playing her piano; cheering for the Phillies at home and in Clearwater; being an excellent Scrabble player; being a devoted wife, a great band, theatre and all-around Mom; and for always doing her crossword puzzles in ink.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three children, Pamela A. Wilson, Worcester Township, Robert M. Wilson Jr., Nashville, Tenn., and Renee W. Furtado (Rick); four grandchildren, Charles and Daniel Gruber and Abigail Bartlett and Jackson Furtado; and a great-grandchild, Juliette Shuit.

Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home, 532 E. Main St., Lansdale, and from 9:30 to 10:30 Friday at St. Rose of Lima Church, North Wales, followed by her funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. Casimir Cemetery, Shenandoah. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pat's name may be made to St. Rose of Lima Church, 428 S. Main St., North Wales, PA 19454.
