It's going to be a slippery start today as an overnight ice storm makes its way out of the region. But it appears a quick melt is on the way.
Ron Young of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said crews are out treating roads and getting around without much trouble. Young said there were no traffic problems reported on major roads.
"We still recommend drivers use caution and be alert for icy spots or 'black ice'," Young said.
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, N.J., issued the following statement at 3:25 a.m.:
An Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until 1000 am.
Freezing rain fell during the night, and ice accumulated on untreated roads and walkways, as well as on trees and power lines.
Temperatures were generally in the middle 20s to lower 30s early this morning. The freezing rain is expected to continue into the morning commute. Temperatures are then forecast to begin rising above 32 degrees, and the freezing rain should gradually change to rain by late morning. However, some pockets of cold air may linger into the early afternoon in the Pocono region and in Sussex County, New Jersey.
By the time the freezing rain ends, some locations could pick up a quarter to a half inch ice accumulation.
