Cinco de Mayo - The Day Jack Took His First Steps

Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is a regional holiday in Mexico, primarily celebrated in the state of Puebla, with some limited recognition in other parts of Mexico. The holiday commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of Mexican General Ignacio Zaragoza SeguĂn. The outnumbered Mexicans defeated a much better-equipped French army that had not been defeated in almost 50 years.

But for the Everharts - May 5th has new meaning. On that day - Jack took his first few steps. He has been standing alone for quite a while - but indeed - we got to witness his very first stroll. The major event took place in our hotel suite - the above picture is from the day before when he was warming up. We were all sitting around having supper when Jack started walking from Robin to Drew. We were amazed - not sure of what we saw - so Robin tried it again - and poof away he went!
